Reading a Brief

For my Major Project brief, the structures of the brief will be a formal, negotiated brief. A Negotiated brief is a brief where there is input from both sides of the project, client and employee both talk about what they need a come to an agreement which suites both. I feel that having a brief that is negotiated will help both me and the client and we both discuss what is best for the project and can make decisions together based on what we have discussed previously, thinking how it can benefit both parties.
A Formal brief is a written document containing specific and precise details about the goals that need to be achieved. A formal brief is not always a legal document. This type of brief is mainly aimed at a group of people or a business company rather than individuals. It gets straight to the point and doesn't contain any unnecessary detail or information. I think having the brief formal will help both clients and employees know and understand what is expected of each other as it details the goals of the project and what is expected at the end of it all. If any of the participants of the project forget what is needed of them or the aim of the project, they will only need to refer back to the brief to find out, instead of asking someone else and embarrassing themselves for not knowing.

It is important to read briefs to know what you’re getting yourself into. It imperative to read them thoroughly as you will need to know what the aims/goals of the project are, what is expected of you throughout the project and what the clients are expecting to get at the end of the project. The brief contains all the little details that you will need to know for the project, it will help you a lot during the project as you will need to keep referring back to it to get all the information you need.

My Major Project e-safety brief is a formal brief as it is written down on paper, detailing specific details as to what I need to put into my project. In my project I have been asked to create an online resource for students and parents about online safety, it must include: Brand design and logo, Suitable content, Appropriate photos/images, Video awareness campaign, Case Studies, Links to other useful sites/contacts. I have to work as part of a Production Team and will be expected to conduct myself professionally.
