The aim of my presentation was to explore what
social action and community campaigns are. We were to choose two campaigns that we were interested in and research the
purpose, target audience and impact of each of the campaigns. We were then to
compare the two campaigns and talk about the similarities and differences of
our campaigns. The final product of this unit would be our PowerPoint which we
would have to present to the class.
I thought that I did explain what social action and community
action media were in my PowerPoint, but thought that I explained community
action media better in the PowerPoint as I had examples in the actual
PowerPoint. If I were to redo the presentation, I would explain what social
action was better with more detail and be much more pacific. I would also use
examples in the PowerPoint, instead of just having the examples in the script,
as I thought it would be too much text for one slide so I thought I could
explain it in the script.
I
explored the purposed of each of my campaigns and the examples within them. I
did a great amount of research and gathered a lot of information for both of my
campaigns. I referred to all the ways the campaigns used media production to spread
the word about their campaigns for example I found they use Websites, News, Leaflets, TV campaign, Posters, Online
campaign, Video/Adverts, websites, booklets for children to raise awareness of their individual issues. I used
data/statistics to support what I was saying about each campaign and to show
how much progress they have made over the years. I did not reference my sources in
my PowerPoint as I should have, but I did keep a research bank of where I got
all the information from.
I
compared my two chosen campaigns towards the end of my PowerPoint. In-fact I compared two different videos of
each of the campaigns, one that was produced earlier when each of the campaigns
were starting out. The other when it was established and well known. I compared
how they progressed and how they have developed. I compared the similarities
and differences of the two campaigns and found that they were both aimed to
help children in one way or another.
Looking
back on the video of me presenting the PowerPoint, I came across not very
confident and looked very nervous (as I was) to the audience. I thought in
terms of voice, my volume was okay but found that I need to register my voice
more and pronounce what I am saying much more as it is not clear what I am
saying sometimes because I am talking too fast, so I would also need to talk
slower.
In terms
of body language, I do not look very confident standing up and presenting as I
am not giving eye contact to people- I am either looking at my script or
looking towards the PowerPoint. I am also very fidgety and by this you can tell
I am very nervous.
For my
audio/visual resources I put together, I thought that it was legible and
concise. It had a lot of visual aid with a lot of images, so the text wouldn't overpower the whole slide and thought the videos were big enough for everyone
to see and hear clearly.
Form the research
I have conducted towards Social Action and Community Action research I think we
could apply what pacific target audience we want to contact with the Major Project
of e safety at Bluecoat, if we either want one pacific area of Nottingham to
know this information or if there is more than one area that need to know about
it. I have also learnt a lot of ways that professional campaigns spread the
word about their issues, so we could also take into consideration methods they
use.
